Goodbye Bangkok

I was in Laos until the first of May (Update: at last, you can read all about my last couple of weeks in Laos here. Enjoy!). I have been in Thailand ever since. Leslie came out to visit for three weeks, which was awesome. She left on the 30th of May; since then, I have been mostly sitting in Bangkok. It's not my favourite place on earth, yet strangely hard to leave.

I have worked out an exit strategy, however: in 4 hours I will board a plane to Yangon (Rangoon), Myanmar (Burma). Not part of my original itinerary, but after 5 weeks in touristy Thailand, I'm in need of a little adventure... plus, it would burn me a bit to visit every country in SE Asia but one.

Due to certain restrictions on the internet in Myanmar, I will likely be mostly unreachable by email; if I don't respond for a week or three, don't be alarmed. The weblog updates will continue at their current pace (i.e. never).

I'm still tremendously happy to be traveling, by the way. All's well at this end of the world...
cheers,
Greg
